Overview
Vanilla Garden Overview
The Japanese/Italian Vanilla Cafe is decorated in 50s retro style with a homely atmosphere. The menu here is interesting, offering traditional as well as fusion Japanese food. Highly recommended appetisers include moji tempura, Japanese rice cakes deep-fried tempura style. Sushi gratin is Californian maki baked with mayonnaise and cheese. For a main course try spaghetti with fresh prawns and prawn roe, a slightly spicy pasta dish where Italian influences come to the fore. Hamburger steak on rice is another interesting fusion dish. Western desserts as well as Japanese-style crepes are on the menu; try crepe with red bean paste and green tea ice cream. The Chinese restaurant Royal Vanilla is in a more traditional tea-room style, and the menu here offers a large selection, including dim sum, popular rice and noodle varieties, and other main dishes. Be sure not to miss aromatic duck served peking style, or fried fish maw with crab meat.
