Wat Klang Wat Klang
Tambon Ban Kae, Amphoe Mueang, Uttaradit
Wat Klang is an Ayutthaya period (16th-18th centuries) temple with beautiful plaster bas-reliefs over the Ubosot or main ordination hall. Inside are rare wall murals of the Early Rattanakosin Period (18th-19th centuries) style depicting the Jatakas, the stories of the previous lives of the Buddha, and an assemblage of celestial beings.
The Ubosot enshrines the principle stucco Buddha image primed with lacquer and gold inlay. The image is a mixture of the early Rattanakosin period and Laotian Luang Prabang style.
Wat Klang is about 3 kilometers from Uttaradit’s Amphoe Mueang on Tanon Charoen Tham in Tambon Ban Kae.
The temple is open daily from 6.00 am-5.00 pm. Permission is required from the abbot for tours. For more information, call 08 8566 9419.
