Wat Khao Di Salak -
Mu 5, Tambon Don Kha, Amphoe U Thong, Suphanburi
This hilltop temple compound is home to a unique object: a replica of the Lord Buddha’s footprint, dating from between 9th-11th century AD, incised in bas-relief on red sandstone. The rectangular slab is surrounded by a lotus petal pattern, and its toes of varying lengths are ornamented with spirals and distinctive motifs. The sole depicts the Buddhist “mini-wheel of truth”. Its 16 spokes are surrounded by 108 auspicious icon sculptures. The bas-relief footprint is approximately 65.5 cm wide and 141.5 cm long
From atop the hill, panoramic views of Amphoe U Thong can also be enjoyed. Temple authorities have beautifully landscaped the surrounding area. In addition, a stone hollow nearby showcases various Buddha images and ancient artifacts.
The temple is located in Mu 5, Tambon Don Kha, 8 kilometers from downtown Amphoe U Thong. It is open daily from 6.00 am-5.00 pm.
