Amphoe Mueang, Amnat Charoen
Mo Lam is a famous traditional dance-and-music performance belonging to Northeastern Thailand. The Phu Thai ethnic group founded Ban Pla Khao Village some 200 years ago; presently, it is the biggest Mo Lam-performing village in the country. Twenty bands live in the village.
Although many bands continue to perform in the traditional style, some have evolved to include contemporary elements. Many of the bands tour nationally, and enjoy huge audiences. The sub-district (called Tambon in Thai) of Ban Pla Khao has, as a result, earned the provincial award of One Tambon One Product. (OTOP is a nationwide program to promote the cultural traditions of each sub-district.)
This cultural attraction is located in Tambon Pla Khao, 20 kilometers from Amnat Charoen town.
