Tambon Ko Kut, Amphoe Ko Kut, Trat
At the most eastern of Trat is this island Koh Kut which is the fourth largest island in the country and the second largest island in Trat. The island is 25 km long, 12 km wide and approximately 105 square km or 65,625 Rai featured the beauty of nature including mountain, great plain, and many beautiful streams running from many wonderful waterfalls. One of the popular waterfalls is the year-round, 3-tier Nam Tok Khlong Chao that is ideal for swimming especially on the lower one with the good-looking pond. In 1911, the waterfall once welcomed King Rama VI who named it Nam Tok Anamkok in honor of the King of Vietnam, Ong Chiang Su. More to that, there are many popular beaches tourists fall in love with such as the crystal clear sea at Taphao Beach, Khlong Chao Beach, Khlong Hin Beach, Phrao Beach, etc. Accommodation is available on the inner of KohKut and on other two islands, Koh Rat and Koh Mai Si located just opposite of the Kut Island.

Geography: This island’s got much more flat land than Koh Chang with the highest mountain being the Khao Phaenth at 315 meters. Beach lovers can enjoy several stunning beaches (Ta Pho Beach, Khlong Chao Beach, Thakian Beach, Phrao Beach, etc.) with the crystal clear seawater. On the inside is fertile area with lots of coconuts and rubber tree plantation.
Community: Most of the locals here make their living with the cultivation of coconuts, rubber and fishing. However, due to the expansion of the tourism industry, the island has approximately 2,000 jobs for the local.
Best time to visit: Nov-Feb as it’s quite cool, dry, and of course, mostly sunny. May still marks the good convenient time only it’s hotter and the monsoon season is also alright as it doesn’t rain heavily there.
Activities: Besides from the great lazy day on the beach, there’re still many exciting options including snorkeling upon the beautiful coral reefs (on this island and its neighbors too) and star gazing at night. Other fun activities can be found at many good rated resorts for fun riding on the sea, water skiing and fishing both daytime and nighttime (3,000 Baht for boat rental overnight).
Sights: Visit the village Aow Salad (Baan Aow Salad) located near the Salad Bar for their biggest fishing village on the island with the freshest seafood alive from the sea every day. The wonderful waterfall Nam TokKhlong Chao is really worth your visit for swimming.
Located roughly 6 km on the south of Koh Chang, this neighbor, Wai Island, is a perfect paradise with beautiful sandy beach. You can visit there by a boat departing from Laem Ngop Pier everyday at 3pm at 130 Baht. Travelling time is 2.5 hours/
Getting there: Chartered boat is available from Koh Chang to Koh Kut with three times a week every Tue, Thu, and Sat. As for the ferry schedule departing from Laem Ngop Pier, it’s best to ask at the pier.
