Ban Phaya So is a center featuring artisans involved in the carving and production of the So, or the Thai fiddle. Here, the So U (or alto fiddle) is carved out of coconuts and engraved with roses, monograms, astrological signs, and strung. The art and craft of handmade Thai alto fiddles are becoming rare, and the center is part of an effort to preserve the traditions and music associated with this unique Thai instrument. Visitors can witness artisans at work and also learn to play the fiddle at the center.
To get there, from the town of SamutSongkhram, follow Highway 325 (SamutSongkhram–Bang Phae) and take a left turn toward the King Rama II Memorial Park between Km 36-37. Ban Phaya So is around 3 kilometers from the park.
