Ban Kut Na Kham Arts and Crafts Center is a royal project initiated by Her Majesty the Queen in 1983. It is located in Ban Kut Na Kham, Tambon Charoen Sin, Amphoe Charoen Sin. It was established to offer training in arts and crafts for Northeasterners, who are known for their handicraft skills. The center allows locals to earn more income and is a model for 30 other similar arts and crafts centers established later nationwide.
Presently, the center is famed for being a high-quality producer of terracotta products. Visitors can observe the delicate and involved production process in demonstration rooms, which shows procedures ranging from casting to painting. A showroom offers quality finished products for sale. The crafts-people’s portfolio here also includes wood carving, silk weaving, basketry and faux flowers.
To get there, from SakhonNakhontown, takeHighway No. 22 (SakhonNakhon-UdonThani) for 85 kilometers. Turn right at AmphoeSawangDaen Din ontoHighway No. 2091 and turn left ontoHighway No. 2280 to Amphoe Charoen Sin. Continue for 20 kilometers to reach the center.
